Postgraduate Diploma at Architectural Association – Important Notice: The Conservation of Historic Buildings course has been suspended. This is a temporary suspension while the school works to re-organise the programme. Please regularly review the website for further updates.

The primary output for the course is the Thesis, which gives the student the opportunity to research in-depth a subject of their choice. This should be on a topic related to the conservation of historic buildings which is the product of the author’s original and unaided work and involves an element of originality e.g. new information derived from original and secondary sources, or a new analysis of a previously discussed topic.

The Thesis output of the course is highly-regarded, exemplified by winning and receiving several commendations from the IHBC Gus Astley Student Award since its inception in 2007.

All previously submitted theses are available in the AA Library.
