RICS Building Conservation Forum

Bookings for the RICS Building Conservation Winter School are now open.

Following the highly successful RICS and SPAB Building Conservation Summer School (running now for over seven years), we are pleased to announce the RICS Building Conservation Winter School. This is intended to take a deeper look at conservation with the target audience being mostly practitioners.

As well as a series of seminars, delegates will have unique access to a variety of projects. On the Monday afternoon and evening, we will travel to Saffron Walden for a site visit at The Old Sun Inn’s Western Cottages with Douglas Kent, Technical Secretary at the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. Douglas will talk about his research into the history of this well known East Anglian property, and how he came to purchase part of it. He will show us what condition the building was in when he bought it and the conservation works he is proposing to undertake.

On Tuesday, sessions will be delivered at Anglesey Abbey, which is a National Trust property a short drive from the hotel. Part of the day will include a guided tour to look at conservation and restoration work at this historical property.
