Sarah Brown

After a long career in architectural research and heritage management, latterly with English Heritage, Sarah Brown came to York in 2008 as Director and CEO of the York Glaziers’ Trust, Britain’s oldest and largest specialist stained glass conservation studio, entrusted with the conservation and care of York Minster’s stained glass. At the same time she became the course director of the University of York’s MA in Stained Glass Conservation and Heritage Management. As YGT director she is currently overseeing the conservation of the Great East Window of 1405-8. Brown is also active in conservation nationally and internationally, serving as a member of the Church Building Council’s stained glass conservation committee, as a board member of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers’ Glaziers’ Trust and as an expert member of the International ICOMOS/Corpus Vitrearum committee for the Conservation and Restoration of Stained Glass. She is national president of the Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi (Great Britain).
