Structural Exercise

The culmination of a series of lectures during term 2 regarding structural movement, the exercise takes as its subject a building selected by the course that has been weakened by historic structural movement.

As part of a field exercise, students have 3 hours to inspect the problems on site and then write a report of approximately 2000 words illustrated with sketches and photos where appropriate.

The exercise is approached as a commission for a private client, with students providing a report giving an overview of the property with regards to existing structural problems, identifying issues and offering recommendations for remedy and interventions.
